Summer Internship programs 2011

Africa Outlook is a non-profit organization based in Washington DC that offers internship placements in NGOs throughout East Africa.Our mission is to facilitate sustainable development in East Africa through the establishment of partnerships with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The success of our program depends on highly motivated interns with a demonstrated commitment to social change. We offer placements in NGOs that focus on education, children’s issues (including orphanages), women’s empowerment, health and sanitation (particularly malaria, HIV/AIDs, TB, and cholera), environmental conservation (ie. water), human rights, internally displaced persons (IDPs), community development and poverty reduction. Our interns are involved in dynamic work ranging from advocacy, project design/management, grant writing, monitoring and evaluation, research, communication, web design, and other initiatives. For summer 2011, our program will be focused in Nairobi, where interns will be placed within Kenyan-owned and operated organizations. This will provide them with a unique opportunity to actively engage with issues affecting the everyday lives of Kenyans.
